Harold has been involved with telecommunications, media and information technology in various capacities for over 20 years. He worked for MultiChoice / M-Net for five years, first in business development, responsible for the development of the DStv business plan, then later as director of regulatory affairs on the M-Net management board.
He subsequently moved into consulting, working for clients such as the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa, M-Net, Primedia, Sentech, the South African Broadcasting Corporation and the Department of Communications. For three years, Harold was an equity analyst, responsible for telecommunications and media. He was rated in both sectors in the Financial Mail annual analyst ratings.
After being an entrepreneur for five years managing an IT company, he joined Nedbank Capital in 2009 as an investment banking originator. He was responsible for media, telecommunications and information technology. This resulted in interactions with senior executives in companies such as MTN, Vodacom, SABC, EOH, Business Connexion, Altron and Reunert.
Harold has extensive broadcasting experience in areas such as business planning, regulatory affairs, strategy, financial analysis and competition issues. His experience include participation on behalf of MultiChoice / M-Net in the telecommunications and broadcasting policy development processes. He represented the company in various forums including interactions with parliament, the minister of communications, regulators, conferences and industry bodies.
